Planning Commission

City of Hollister Planning Advisory Commission is a five member committee appointed by the City Council to review matters related to planning and development. The City of Hollister Planning Advisory Commission holds their public meetings at 6:00 pm on the fourth Thursday of the each month with the exception of the month of June. The June meeting occurs on the fourth Wednesday. These meetings consider land use matters, which include such things as the General Plan, specific plans, rezonings, use permits, and subdivisions.

Airport Advisory Commission


Airport Advisory Commission

The City of Hollister Airport Advisory Commission is a five-member committee appointed by City Council.  Terms are concurrent with Council seat.  The Commission meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 6:00 pm in the City Council Chambers, at City Hall, and other meetings as deemed necessary by the Commission.  Meeting dates may be altered to accommodate holidays and/or special community events.

The Airport Advisory Committee’s role is to study and make recommendations on matters relating to current and future need for services to both the general public and aviation community at the airport. The Commission considers the long range plans for the development and improvement of the Airport with appropriate consideration of the City General Plan and the Airport Master Plan, and serves in an advisory capacity to the City Council on all aviation and airport matters.

Parks and Recreation Commission


Park and Recreation Commission

The City of Hollister Park and Recreation Advisory Commission is a five-member committee appointed by City Council.  Terms are concurrent with Council seat.  The Commission meets on the last Tuesday of each month at 6:30 pm in the City Council Chambers, at City Hall, and other meetings as deemed necessary by the Commission.  Meeting dates may be altered to accommodate holidays and/or special community events.

The Park and Recreation Advisory Committee serves as an advisory board to the City Council in order to promote, achieve, and ensure adequate and comprehensive policies, programs, services, and facilities for the City of Hollister.

Art & Cultural Commission


Art & Cultural Commission

The City of Hollister Art & Cultural Advisory Commission is a seven-member commission appointed by City Council. The Commission is composed of five (5) members representing the City Council of the City Hollister, and two (2) youth voting members between the ages of 12-18. Terms are concurrent with Council seat.  The Commission meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:00 pm in the City Council Chambers, at City Hall, and other meetings as deemed necessary by the Commission.  Meeting dates may be altered to accommodate holidays and/or special community events.

The Commission will advise the City Council on all matters affecting the culture of the city and to advise and assist other city boards and commissions in the field of the fine arts.  Commissioners will undertake and carry out all functions reasonably necessary to accomplish the objectives and to discharge the functions of the commission; and to exercise such other functions as may be set by the City Council.  In addition, members will establish an effective liaison between the city and local cultural and artistic groups.

Historic Resources Commission


The Historic Resources Commission is a five-member commission appointed by City Council. Per Hollister Municipal Code section 15.16.050, one member shall be a member in good standing of the Hollister Downtown Association; one member shall be a member in good standing of the San Benito County Historical Society; one member shall be a person knowledgeable about historic preservation with a background in architecture, engineering, and construction; two members who are a resident or property owner of a historical district in the city.

The duties of the Historic Resources Commission include: making recommendations in accordance with the criteria set forth in  Hollister Municipal Code Section 15.16.070 the designation of historic resources including individual properties, landmark sites and historic districts; maintaining a local register of historic resources consistent with the National Register of Historic Places criteria including individual properties, landmark sites, landmarks, and historic districts within the city including all information required for each designation; and reviewing and commenting upon the conduct of land use, housing and redevelopment, municipal improvement and other types of planning and programs undertaken by any agency of the city, the county or state, as they relate to the survey results and historic resources of the community.

Youth Committee


The Youth Committee provides the City Council with advice about youth in Hollister, study problems, activities, and concerns by holding forums and involving youth in the development of various events for the City of Hollister. Applicants must live in the City of Hollister and be 12-18 years of age. Committee seats are a two year term, beginning in 2021 and expiring in March 2023.
