BLOOD DRIVE - This year, in the midst of a giving season, the Hollister Police Department is challenging all of the public safety agencies to a Battle of the Badges Blood Drive. We have partnered with the American Red Cross to bring a public safety blood drive to San Benito County. Our challenge has been accepted by the San Benito County Probation Department, San Benito Sheriff’s Office, California Highway Patrol, California State Parks, California Department of Fish and Wildlife, CAL FIRE, American Medical Response, and Hollister Fire Department. The blood drive donation will be on January 6th at the Hollister Police Department. We have over 30 of 40 spots registered, but we have room for additional spots, and we are asking for your help. To register, follow the directions in the graphic. What better was is there to give this season than to give the gift of life? Join us! ... See MoreSee Less

Recently a letter was mailed to all City of Hollister water customers notifying them of a drinking water standard exceedance from samples taken on September 8, 2022. The City routinely samples our drinking water in accordance with State guidelines to ensure we provide quality drinking water. On this occasion, two samples, of eight taken, tested above the maximum contamination level for Total Trihalomethanes in one area of the city, the Municipal Airport. All other sample sites throughout the city tested below the threshold. Total Trihalomethanes are known as a disinfection by-product. They form when chlorine, which is used to kill harmful pathogens and bacteria in drinking water, reacts with organic matter in the water. This formation most commonly occurs at a dead end of a water main where there is low usage and water does not circulate back into the system. These samples were taken at a dead end. Trihalomethanes are NOT an immediate health concern. The health risks associated with Trihalomethanes are from long term exposure at elevated levels. Please keep in mind that the exceedance location occurred at the airport, and not throughout our entire distribution system. If there had been an immediate risk, the City would have notified all residents immediately and would have taken steps to ensure the health and safety of our residents. If you have further questions about this notice please feel free to reach out to Trenna Burbank at Trenna.Burbank@Hollister.ca.gov ...
