The City Clerk conducts regular and special elections, including processing and certifying citizen-generated petitions. The City Clerk, as the Elections Official, is also the point of contact for keeping candidates, the public, and staff informed during the election process.

  • Swearing-in of elected Councilmembers and Mayor (after San Benito County Elections has completed the canvass and certified election results).

On November 8, 2022, the voters of the City of Hollister will elect:

  • one Mayor on an at-large basis for a term of 2 years
  • one Councilmember representing District 2 for a term of 4 years
  • one Councilmember representing District 3, for a term of 4 years
  • one Treasurer on an at-large basis for a term of 4 years

CANDIDATES ON THE BALLOT

The period for filing nomination papers for Councilmember, District 2 closed August 12, 2022 at 5 pm. The deadline for non-incumbents running for City Treasurer to file nomination papers was extended and closed at 5 pm on Wednesday, August 17, 2022.

MEASURES ON THE BALLOT

On June 6, 2022, the City Council adopted three Resolutions placing ballot measures on the November 8, 2022 ballot. The ballot measures ask voters the following questions:

“Shall an ordinance be adopted adding Section 2.04.300 to Chapter 2.04 of the Hollister Municipal Code to establish an eight consecutive year term limit on Mayoral service followed by a four-year “cooling off” period during which a person may not serve as Mayor, and a two consecutive four-year term limit on Councilmember service followed by a four-year “cooling off” period during which a person may not serve as a Councilmember?” YES
