Introduction
The City of Hollister
is a General Law City and is governed by a “Council
Manager” form of government. The Council, as the legislative
body, represents the citizens of Hollister, and is empowered
by the Municipal Code to formulate citywide policy, enact
local legislation, adopt budgets, and appoint the City
Manager and City
Attorney.
As
of the November 2012 election, the City
Council consists of four Council
Members who are each elected by voters in his/her district
and serve staggered four-year terms. The Vice Mayor
is elected from among themselves every year at the first meeting
in January. The Mayor
is elected by all the voters in Hollister for a two year term.
Elections are held in November of even-numbered years.
The City Treasurer is also an elected official of the City.
The City of Hollister
has 124 full-time employees and an operating budget of over
$35,000,000. The City offices are comprised of the
